Google Ads for Burlington trades, with a ceiling on every town

Paid search can fill a Burlington trade's schedule within days, but only if each town and job type has its own budget and a maximum cost per enquiry that your margins can carry.

Paid search is the fastest way for a Burlington trade to get calls, and the fastest way to waste money. The difference comes down to one decision you make before launch: the most you will pay for an enquiry in each town and for each type of job. Everything else in a well-run account follows from that number.

What this service is

We plan, build and manage Google Ads campaigns, and where your trade qualifies, Local Services Ads. Campaigns are split by town and by job type, because a $350 drain call in Aldershot and an $18,000 roof in Milton should never share a budget or a bid.

The account belongs to you. You pay Google directly, and our management fee is separate and listed on the pricing page.

Who it's for

Paid search suits Burlington trades that:

  • need calls within weeks, not months;
  • have spare crew time they can fill reliably;
  • do urgent work (leaks, no heat, no power, storm damage) where searchers call the first credible result;
  • want to test demand in Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills or Hamilton before building pages there.

It suits you less if your schedule is already booked six weeks out. Then we'd usually put the effort into local SEO and reviews, and keep ads for high-margin work only.

Setting a ceiling per town

Here's the arithmetic we do with every owner. Replace the example numbers with yours.

Input Burlington example Milton example
Average job value $900 $900
Gross margin 45% ($405) 38% ($342, after extra drive time)
Close rate on enquiries 40% 30%
Break-even cost per enquiry about $162 about $103

The same job is worth less in a town that's farther away, because travel eats margin and you usually close fewer enquiries where you're unknown. So Milton gets a lower ceiling, and if Google can't deliver enquiries under it, Milton waits. Google's location targeting lets us set this up town by town.

What's included

  1. Account review or setup under your own Google login.
  2. Campaign structure by town and by job type, with separate urgent and planned-work campaigns.
  3. Search term cleaning: blocking searches for DIY tips, jobs, parts and other trades.
  4. Landing pages matched to each campaign, so a Halton Hills searcher lands on a page that mentions their area and the service they asked for.
  5. Call tracking so every enquiry can be traced to a campaign.
  6. Monthly review of cost per enquiry against your agreed ceiling in each town.

Timeline

  • Week 1: ceilings agreed, tracking installed, account structure built.
  • Weeks 2–6: learning period. Expect wasted clicks to be cut weekly.
  • Month 2–3: budgets shift towards towns and job types that come in under ceiling.
  • Every quarter: we review whether a town has proven itself enough to justify organic work there, as described on the expansion page.

How results are measured

The main number is cost per booked job by town, not clicks or impressions. To get it, we need your help marking which enquiries became jobs; a simple weekly list is enough. We also report:

  • enquiries and cost per enquiry by town and job type;
  • the share of spend going to searches that don't fit your work;
  • calls missed during working hours, which often cost more than any bid change can save.

Mistakes to avoid

  • One campaign for all of Halton. Google spends where clicks are cheapest, which may be where your jobs are least profitable.
  • Sending every ad to the home page. Searchers want the service they asked for, on the first screen.
  • Ignoring missed calls. If nobody answers, the click is wasted. A missed-call text-back tool such as the one described on CallText.chat can catch some of those callers.
  • Judging the account in week two. Early weeks are noisy; decide on four to six weeks of clean data.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I spend on ads each month?

Work back from capacity and margin, not from a round number. If you can take ten more jobs a month and can afford $150 per enquiry at a one-in-three close rate, your ceiling is about $4,500, and you'd start well below it while the account learns.

Who owns the ad account?

You do. The account sits under your business's Google login, you pay Google directly, and we work in it with access you can remove at any time.

Are Local Services Ads worth it for a Burlington trade?

They can be for eligible trades, because you pay per lead rather than per click and the ads appear above regular results. Eligibility, screening and categories vary by trade, so we check what applies to you before recommending them.

Can you run ads only for Oakville?

Yes. Each town can have its own campaign, budget and landing page. That's often how we test a new town before committing to pages and reviews there.
