These are the questions Burlington trade owners ask most often, in roughly the order they come up. The short answers are above; below, we expand on the ones that matter most before you decide anything.
Frequently asked questions
What does Burlington.Marketing actually do?
We plan and run marketing for trades and home-service businesses in Burlington and across Halton: local SEO, Google Ads, websites, reviews and service-area expansion. We also advise owners on pricing, positioning and where to grow.
Are you a contractor or a lead-referral company?
Neither. We don't do trade work of any kind, and we don't sell or share enquiries. Every call your marketing produces goes to you alone.
How much does it cost?
The Growth plan is $1,999 monthly, or $1,499 monthly if you commit for a year, and Ontario clients add 13% HST. Ad spend is separate and paid to Google. The pricing page lists all three plans.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. Plans are month to month with 30 days' notice to cancel. Annual billing is optional and lowers the monthly price.
How soon will I see more calls?
Paid search can bring calls within days of launch. Profile fixes can help within weeks. Ranking organically for competitive Burlington searches usually takes several months. Anyone who names a fixed date is guessing.
We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?
Usually the earlier agency reported clicks and rankings rather than booked jobs, or targeted too wide an area. We start from your job value and margins, track calls to their source, and report cost per booked job by town. If the numbers don't work, we'll tell you.
Who owns the website, Google profile and ad account?
You do. They're set up under your business's name and logins, and we work with access you can remove at any time. If you leave, you keep everything.
What will I see in the monthly report?
Calls, texts and emails by source; enquiries by Burlington district and Halton town; cost per enquiry against your ceiling; booked jobs you've confirmed; and new reviews. It's written to be read in five minutes.
Can you promise first place on Google?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Google says local rankings depend on relevance, distance and prominence, and nobody can pay Google for a higher local ranking.
Do you work with trades other than HVAC?
Yes. This site serves plumbers, electricians, roofers, renovators, landscapers, cleaners and other home-service trades. Our published case studies are results from our HVAC work, and we present them that way.
Do you serve Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills and Hamilton?
Yes, for trades based in Burlington or nearby. We add towns one at a time, after testing whether the margins hold up with the extra drive time.
Can you help with hiring technicians?
We can help you market your company as an employer, such as a careers page and job ads that describe the work honestly. Wages, contracts and employment law questions belong with your own advisers.
Can you tell me which licences I need to advertise my trade?
We'll link you to the regulator, such as the Electrical Safety Authority or TSSA, and summarise what their pages say. We don't give compliance advice; confirm your obligations with the regulator.
Cost and contracts
Plans run from $1,999 to $7,999 a month on month-to-month terms, with lower prices on annual billing, and Ontario clients add 13% HST. There's no long contract; you can cancel with 30 days' notice. Your ad budget goes directly to Google from your own account, so you can always see what clicks cost.
The bigger question is what you can afford to pay per enquiry. The pricing page has a worked example, and the first-year budget guide goes further.
"We tried an agency before"
Owners say this to us more than anything else, and the worry is reasonable. When we review past campaigns for Burlington trades, the same problems tend to show up:
- reports full of clicks, impressions and rankings, but nothing about booked jobs;
- one campaign targeting all of Halton, so the budget drifted to the cheapest clicks rather than the most profitable towns;
- a website that sent everyone to the home page;
- an ad account or website owned by the agency, so the owner couldn't leave cleanly.
We fix those by agreeing measures before starting, splitting work by town and job type, and keeping every account in your name. If an earlier agency left you without access to your own accounts, we'll help you work through recovering it.
Ownership and access
Your domain, website, Google Business Profile and ad accounts should all be registered to your business. We work with access you grant and can remove. Photos and content we create for you are yours. This isn't a favour; it's how a trade business protects one of its most valuable assets.
Timelines and what "working" looks like
Paid search can bring calls within days. Profile fixes may help within weeks. Organic rankings for competitive Burlington searches usually take several months of steady work, and growth into a new Halton town is tested over about 90 days before we invest more there.
"Working" means booked jobs at a cost you're comfortable with, measured by town. To make that measurable, we'll ask you to mark which enquiries became jobs; a simple weekly list is enough. See the results page for how we think about measurement.
What we won't do
- We won't do trade work or send anyone to a customer's home.
- We won't write, buy or filter reviews.
- We won't promise rankings or a set number of leads.
- We won't give legal, accounting or code-compliance advice.
Reporting you can actually read
Each monthly report fits on a page or two. It opens with the numbers that decide whether marketing is paying: calls, texts and emails received; how many became booked jobs; and what each booked job cost, split by Burlington district and Halton town. After that come the supporting details, such as new reviews, pages published and search terms we blocked.
If a number moves the wrong way, the report says so and explains what we're changing. You won't need a glossary, and you're welcome to call and ask about anything in it.
Working across Halton
Most of our Burlington clients also take work in Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills or Hamilton. We don't treat those towns as an afterthought, and we don't add them all at once. Each town gets tested against its own cost ceiling, as explained on the service-area expansion page, and earns its own pages only when your job records show it pays after drive time.
